A smile for Mandela Day

As part of Mandela Day activities, local dentist, Dr Phumudzo Stephen Machaka put a smile on Evette Geyser's face by giving her braces.

LOUIS TRICHARDT – As part of Mandela Day activities, local dentist, Dr Phumudzo Stephen Machaka put a smile on Evette Geyser’s face by giving her braces.

Machaka, who studied at the Medical University of Southern Africa ran a practice in Rustenburg from 1996 to 2001.

He opened his practice in Louis Trichardt in 2003.

“I actually wanted to become a medical doctor, but I realised that there were too many, so I decided to become a dentist. I also enjoy seeing people happy and I love helping people. The best thing about my work is seeing a fake smile turn into a really beautiful smile,” said Machaka.

Evette’s mother, Louise, could not stop thanking Machaka for helping her daughter.

“I would really like to thank Dr Machaka. Without his care, we would not be able to have given Evette the braces that she needed. He really has a warm heart, and I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart,” said Louise.
