LIMPOPO – GR. 12 learner, Thendo Vele from Matavhela Secondary School outside Mutale wanted to open a bank account last year, but because of his fingerprints not being registered with home affairs, the account could not be opened.
In addition, said Vele, he also could not apply for a job because he technically did not have an ID.
Vele said in January, he went to open the bank account, but was told the ID document does not contain his fingerprints.
The provincial manager of home affairs in Limpopo, Flora Motsitsi said they have taken notice of the problem and his fingerprints have in the meanwhile been processed.
“He will know the outcome very soon,” she said.
