Mob torches man’s house in retaliation of proposed muni
THE three-roomed home belonging to Calvin Mathebula of the Vuwani Demarcation Task Team was burnt to the ground by a mob on Monday evening allegedly as retaliation of his support for the area to fall under the newly proposed Malamulele municipality.

Spokesperson for the police in Vuwani, WO Elijah Malatji said no injuries were reported.
Malatji said Mathebula has fled and the police were still waiting for him to assist them with the value of his property.
“We understand that people have the right to protest, but those rights have limitations. As the police, we cannot do nothing when protesters burn people’s properties. Those who are involved in arson and public violence should know that they will be arrested and charged,” said Malatji.
Provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronél Otto said the situation in Vuwani was under control.
Senior traditional leader, chief Nthumeni Masia said people in the Vuwani, Mulenzhe, Tshikonelo, Masia and the surrounding area were happy to fall under the jurisdiction of the Makhado Municipality.
