LIMPOPO -A 35-year-old man was sentenced to twenty years for attempted murder and theft in the Mankweng regional court on 20 July.
Shere Molongoana Malatjie was arrested the day after he attempted to murder his ex-girlfriend says provincial spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.
According to the police report; on May 17 Malatjie kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and took her nearby mountains where he assaulted and attempted to strangle her by hanging her from a tree with her shoelaces.
After being left for dead, she managed to escape and get home where her sister notified the authorities.
“Two cellphones worth R6 000 were also taken during the incident,” said Otto
At his previous hearing Malatjie was given bail of R1 000.
