Knobkerrie-murderer’s body discovered

The body of Prince Vele Budeli, the man accused of beating to death his step children with a knobkerrie, has been discovered near his home village.

LIMPOPO – The body of Prince Vele Budeli, the man accused of beating his stepchildren to death, has been found near his home village Makonde, Thohoyandou.

Budeli’s body was discovered at about 15:45 on Tuesday (today) by women collecting firewood, says provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto. “The body of Prince Vele Budeli was found hanging in a tree in the Makonde mountains,” she says.

For the last two weeks the police have been searching for Budeli after his wife discovered her children’s lifeless bodies. He fled after allegedly beating the two children to death at their home in Makonde Village near Thohoyandou.

“It is alleged that after an argument between the man and his 33-year-old wife, she fled from the house. The man took a knobkerrie and beat his daughter Justic Thinawanga (2) and son, Munyai Thinawanga (6) so severely that they were declared dead on the scene,” Otto says.

Budeli’s body has been positively identified by family members, she concludes.
