LIMPOPO – ZUREL Bros SA hosted an awards ceremony last Wednesday, when they honoured their top students.

The top achievers received certificates and trophies based on their performance during the first trimester.

The top overall achievers received full bursaries, which would help them to register four subjects in the next trimester.

The principal, Norman Landman, said the awards were an integral part of the college, as they served as a crucial tool of motivation and this would motivate other students to work hard.

“We have a system in place to assist all our students to excel in their education and to make these awards more bigger and better. This is a way to ensure we promote good learning to our people and bring a brighter future towards our students,” said Landman.

The college, which is situated at 120 River Street in Ladine, offers engineering courses from N1 to N6 and also offers practical skills programmes in the electrical and welding fields.

N3 student, David Maponya, received four awards based on his N2 performance in electrical engineering, mathematics and as best overall achiever. He also received a bursary as well. He said he wanted to be a technician when he completed his studies.

“I am very happy about my performance. This has been a long journey through hard work and I’m still going to work hard throughout my studies. This was not a surprise to me because I knew that with the effort I put in my studies, I can always make it,” said Maponya.

N4 student, Alwyn de Lange, received three awards based on his N3 performance in engineering science, mathematics and best overall achiever and a bursary.

He said with hard work, everything was possible and he looked forward to work hard on his studies.

“My dream is to be an instrument technical when I finish my studies. These awards mean a lot to me and through them I get more courage to study harder.”

Emmanuel Boshomane, the engineering HOD, encouraged the students to work hard on their studies and produce good results.

“Passing with low percentages is also regarded as a pass but what our students should know is that those who pass with high percentages are the ones whose results are more recognised. We urge students to work hard,” said Boshomane.
