Limpopo father sentenced to life for rape

A 46-year-old man was sentenced to life in the Thohoyandou regional court on Monday for the rape of his seven-year-old daughter.

LIMPOPO – A 46-year-old man was sentenced to life in the Thohoyandou regional court on Monday for the rape of his seven-year-old daughter.

On October 24, 2011, he lured his biological daughter to his room under the pretence of helping her with her homework and raped her, said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

Maluadzi was arrested shortly after the incident in Thogwe Dzimauli village near Thohyandou, but never received bail, said Otto.

The provincial police commissioner, Lt Genl Fannie Masemola congratulated the investigation team with the success.

Masemola further said: “the police will never rest until the abusers of women and children are behind bars. I hope that this maximum sentence will send a strong message to would be perpetrators of crimes against women and children”.
