6 arrested after 4th truck is set alight

Six people were arrested on Tuesday after protestors set another truck alight last night on the R555 road to Burgersfort.

LIMPOPO – Six people were arrested on Tuesday after protestors set another truck alight last night on the R555 road to Burgersfort.

Provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto said this was the fourth truck to be set alight and investigations to link the six suspects to the other incidents were ongoing. She added that no one had been injured in the latest fire.

“The road is currently clear and traffic is flowing but the Eerstegeluk road is still blocked by burning tyres and stones,” Otto said, adding that there was a large police presence in the area.

The six suspects were due to appear before the Burgersfort magistrate’s court on Wednesday on charges of malicious damage to property.
