LIMPOPO – Roads in the Eerstegeluk area close to Burgersfort have been closed and a warning has been sent out to motorists traveling in the vicinity.

This was after members from the community of Mampuru village last night and this morning blockaded the R555, provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, said.

“The road was blockaded and a truck set alight in protest against the new road that was promised to the community but had not been erected yet.” Otto further explained.

Otto said the main road was currently open but roads in the Eerstegeluk area were still closed.

No arrests had been made yet. The public order police had been deployed and were monitoring the situation, Otto concluded.
