LIMPOPO -“A total of 47 people have been arrested and charged with public violence and arson following the looting and torching of two taverns and a liquor warehouse on Thursday and Friday morning in Mecklenburg.”
According to provincial spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto four people have also been arrested for possession of stolen goods.
“Liquor, cigarettes, groceries, TV’s and fridges were recovered after the looting,” said the spokersperson.
On Friday 25 people were charged and arrested for public violence, malicious damage to property and arson after an angry mob set alight two taverns and a truck belonging to a liquor warehouse. They accused the owner of the taverns of murdering a young woman approximately two weeks ago.
The suspects will appear before the Mecklenberg magistrate’s court on Monday(today).
