LIMPOPO – AS part of their corporate social investment and Youth Month initiative, Limpopo-based bus carrier, Great North Transport (GNT) visited Sephakabatho Secondary School in Ga-Maja village recently.

The transport company, together with other sponsors such as Ricoh, Vodacom, Scania and AON donated office furniture, a photocopying machine, stationery and knitted caps to the learners at the school.

Kara Molewa, senior internal auditor from GNT, said they saw a need to renovate the principal’s office and to give back to the learners as well.

“My colleagues and I were passing here one day and saw the school and decided to come in. When we saw the condition of the principal’s office, we were in shock, so we decided to not only help renovate the office, but also give the learners something as well,” said Molewa.

The learners received knitted caps and pencil cases filled with school supplies and information brochures.

One of the learners,Tlowana Tswelopele, said he appreciated the warm gesture.

Career professionals were also invited to speak on the day. One of the speakers, Percy Ravhudzulo, together with Dineo Ledwaba, gave learners advice on the various career paths and bursary options.

Sephakabatho obtained 100% matric pass rate last year.

“We are very serious about education and we always encourage the learners to do their best,” said the school administrator, Lydia Mashao.

Two learners also walked away with brand new cellphones.

Learners were also given a brief history lesson on the events of June 16, 1976.
