Learners keen to stay warm this winter

Learners at Pemps gr. R received a few winter lessons before going on school holidays.

POLOKWANE – Winter is regarded as a time for comfort, good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire.

Most people regard winter as the best season to spend at home with the family.

Learners at Pemps gr. R received a few winter lessons before going on school holidays. They were taught to wear warm clothes to avoid getting those winter illnesses that are inevitable.

Malebo Supe said he would wear his scarf and ‘hoodie’ to stay warm during the winter holidays. “And when it is really cold I will stay indoors to avoid getting cold.

Kgadi Chaamano said she gloves and a hot water bottle are must-haves this winter. She said her teachers taught her to stay warm to be safe from flu and other illnesses.

Siyo Boqwana said he hoped that Eskom would not bore him with load shedding since he wanted to keep his heater on all day long to stay warm.

Tshego Mamabolo bragged about her electric blanket and said she would stay in bed until midday during the holidays to hide from the cold weather.

“And I will fight with anyone who wakes me up early in the morning,” she warned.

Bophelo Ledwaba, said they had a fireplace at home so he would ask his dad to make a fire for him everyday to keep warm. “Of course, I will be the ‘fire detector’ in my house, just to make sure that it is safe,” he added.

Xolani Nzima, said he would wear warm clothes and stay a safe distance from any fire, as he was taught.

Mahlatse Rasekgana said she would eat warm food during the school winter holidays to keep warm. “Soup and tea are a must in winter, and my favourite,” she said.

Malesela Mashashane said he would play indoors during the school holidays to stay warm rather than playing in the cold and catching flu. He added that in winter one needed to stay warm at all times.
