The provincial office bearers of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) were elected unopposed during its fourth Provincial Congress at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane last weekend.
Essop Mokgonyana was re-elected as Provincial Chairperson and so was Gerald Twala as Provincial Secretary. Calvin Chamano is the Deputy Provincial Chairperson and Phuti Mahlaba the Provincial Treasurer.
More than 750 delegates gathered under the theme “Sebatakgomoo! Defend unity of the workers and reposition Cosatu towards the radical transformation of society”. The delegates represented 14 affiliates in good standing and collectively an estimated 190 000 members across the province. It was also attended by international partners Zimbabwean Congress of Trade Unions.
