POLOKWANE – As part of their lesson on the winter season, gr. R Pemps learners recently built a snowman using recycled material.
Review asked them about the snowman and what materials they used to build it.
Hluri Sithole said he used flour to build the body, match sticks for the arms and a bottle lid for the hat.
“The snowman should definitely have buttons, so I used little stones instead of buttons.”
Carla Antonio said she kept her snowman in a warm place so that he wouldn’t melt.
“There is no snow in Polokwane, so my snowman is not made of real snow, so he should be kept warm to avoid damage,” she said.
Tholakele Matjeng said: “We made the snowman during our winter season lesson. It is very cold in winter and snow only comes in winter”.
Lesego Phatudi said people who lived in Cape Town were very privileged because they experienced snow.
“Snow can only be found in Cape Town on the mountains, not in Polokwane.”
Bophelo Ledwaba sang a song: “I am a little snowman, these are my buttons and this is my hat”. She said that her snowman could not melt because he was not made of real snow.
Hlukelo Sithole said she made a snowlady, not a snowman as she is a lady. “My snowlady has buttons and match stick hands.”
Mashudu Nenavhidi said they were told to build a snowman since it is winter and snow can only be experienced in winter. “I had fun building the snowman and I learned a lot from the winter season lesson,” she said.
Kamogelo Hlaka said they built a snowman because they were learning about winter. “We only experience snow in winter. If Polokwane experiences snow, I would play with it and not even think about the cold. I would invite my friends so that we could build the biggest snowman,” he said.
