Mass patrol leads to lost boy found by CPF

POLOKWANE – Members of the sector 5 community policing forum (CPF), also known as northern upper town (NUT) took part in a mass patrol last Thursday.

The mass patrol was held to create awareness in NUT’s policing area and to familiarise residents with the patrol vehicles and patrol officers. During the patrol, some of the members found a boy between the ages of six and seven wondering the streets at around 20:00. It was established that the boy was left behind at one of the primary schools in the city and he decided to walk home. The boy was handed over to the police within minutes, who then accompanied him home.

NUT spokesperson and Savannah Mall marketing manager, Karen Botha said the incident with the young boy was testament of the good relationship between the CPF and the police.

“CPF members work very closely with the police, not only in the fight against crime, but to assist the community within minutes,” Botha said.

The NUT group invites residents in their operation area to get involved in the CPF and to also show their support by hooting when they see NUT’s marked vehicles.
