POLOKWANE – THE Aesthetico Medical Aesthetic Clinic, a beauty clinic in Polokwane recently held an open day. For two days, locals, as well as two Mrs South Africa top 25 finalists, Shoni Mulaudzi and Grace Makgoka had the opportunity to experience the world leading obagi medical chemical peel. They were also given insight into the “good, the bad and the potentially ugly about chemical peels”, as the event was themed.

As our skin forms a new layer of skin every 28 days, the old layer needs to be removed or else the skin starts to appear old and dull. Existing pigmentation, sun damage or acne marks will also become worse over time. Therefore, a chemical peel is necessary to strip down the old skin to reveal a new, fresher and younger looking skin.

Dr Anton Mathey, one of the partners of the practice, explained that chemical peels were an economic way to improve skin conditions, however they often had to do damage control on the skin of patients who went for a chemical peel with a non-professional. He warned patients to be fully informed of who and what they were dealing with before they subjected themselves to such a procedure.

Cosmetologist and partner, Solene Wolhüter, explained that Aesthetico only used cosmeceutical and chemical peel manufacturers that had stood the test of time and that remained at the forefront of the latest developments, such as obagi which was featured during the event. “Like it is when you buy any new beauty range, the initial capital layout is always the most. However, the benefit of quality products is that it is highly concentrated. You will never be in a position to replace everything at once again,” explained Wolhüter.

A satisfied Mulaudzi, who has been a patient of Aesthetico for several months in anticipation of the Mrs South Africa finals, was delighted with her skin as a result of the two-day event: “dealing with qualified professionals makes all the difference and the results are well worth it. My skin looks visibly radiant and feels absolutely amazing”.
