POLOKWANE – Mall of the North Ocean Basket came to a standstill on Thursday evening during the Greek night celebration.

A number of customers made their way to the Greek evening, which has become extremely popular. According to the manager, Gerhard Franken, Greek evenings are held every three months.

Customers reveled in the traditional Greek-style entertainment which included traditional Greek dancing, breaking of plates and of course the best seafood in the city.

The band, consisting of local artists, entertained guests with vibrant Greek songs over dinner.

During the evening, customers took turns in breaking the plates, then celebrated by dancing in the traditional Greek manner. Clapping of hands and the many different dance steps and moves helped to create wonderful ambience .

Franken acknowledged all the guests who attended the event, thanked everyone and he gave prizes to the best dancer and winners who found a green dot under their plates.

Ike Vuma, one of the guests, said it was a new experience and he had enjoyed it.

“I only see such Greek celebrations on TV, but today I was part of it, I wish it could happen every week,” he said.
