Cansa’s mobile clinic is a boon to those who live in rural areas

With a mobile clinic, things will be different and life will be much better in some of the areas in the province that have not had access to these services thus far.

POLOKWANE – With a mobile clinic, things will be different and life will be much better in some of the areas in the province that have not had access to these services thus far.

In an effort to curb long walks to the clinic, Cansa assists communities in different areas with medical treatment.

The clinic offers services such as breast examinations, PSA prosthetic tests, pap smears, HIV rapid tests and other services that will make a trip to the clinic unnecessary.

Cansa also has a care clinic, which provides treatment and is at the Hospitium in Polokwane. The clinic treat people at a minimum cost.

Speaking on behalf of Cansa, Corné Marais said the patients did not have to pay doctor’s fees, which also ensured that services were rendered at a very low late.

When asked about the challenges they faced at the clinic, she said taking specimens to the laboratory was costly, and patients had to pay for certain tests done.

Other services offered at the clinic includes skin tests, volunteer training, home-based care, oncology clinic, stomach clinic, telephone counselling, fitting of prosthesis, medical loan equipment, health talks, health exhibitions and health campaign in the form of pamphlets. She further said there were caregivers who visited cancer patients at their homes to give them treatment and counselling, which included family members.
