Cappies teachers celebrate the class of 1976

Capricorn High School teachers took it upon themselves to be part of the commemoration by wearing school uniforms in support of the heroes and heroines who died that day.

POLOKWANE – June is celebrated as Youth Month in South Africa, with a specific focus on 16 June, which is also known as Youth Day. Youth Month pays tribute to the school pupils who lost their lives during the June 16 1976 uprising in Soweto.

Capricorn High School teachers took it upon themselves to be part of the commemoration by wearing school uniforms in support of the heroes and heroines who died that day.

Vice principal, Dr Lorraine Mohlapamaswi, said this month reminds them of our country’s history and the uniform forms part of their identity, showing unity.

“We wear the school uniform with pride, we want the learners to do the same. We are instilling the service of discipline and respect in future generations,” Mohlapamaswi said.
