Tough on the playground, but a real lady on stage

"To be a successful model, you must have a passion to help others because you have to get involved in a lot of charity work and I love doing that. I love reaching out and helping others," says Miss Polokwane Show, Anzé Esterhuizen.

POLOKWANE – “To be a successful model, you must have a passion to help others because you have to get involved in a lot of charity work and I love doing that. I love reaching out and helping others,” says Miss Polokwane Show, Anzé Esterhuizen.

The six-year-old also boasts nine other titles: Miss Polokwane Show 2014, Miss SPCA Mokopane 2015, Ultimate Face of Limpopo 2015, as well as best female ramp at ultimate Face of Limpopo, Face of Thornhill 2013, Little Queen of the North 2013, Face of Savannah 2014, Miss Kierieklapper 2014 and Little Miss Summer Glitz 2014.

Anzé was also awarded best improved junior model at the Limpopo beauty modelling academy in 2014, and this year, she was the best overall junior model at the academy.

“I started modelling when I was four years old, and with every competition I give my best and therefore I practise hard before each and every competition. I love dressing up and being on stage, it is a lot of fun. Modelling is not just a hobby, it is something you have to be passionate about because it is a lot of hard work and dedication. You have to love what you are doing, otherwise you will not be happy nor successful,” Anzé says.

The little beauty queen adds that in modelling, it is important to be yourself and to always be spontaneous.

“It is also important to be humble. Never think you are better than anyone else. We are all unique.

“Something I will always keep with me that my mom taught me is that you cannot always win and therefore no tears if you do not make it, but always remember hard work pays off at the end,” she says.

When Anzé is not modelling, she enjoys having play dates with her friends, singing, swimming and spending time with her cat, Cleo.

Her mother, Joline, says although Anzé is a beauty queen, she is very tough and plays rough on the playground.

“I always fight with her because she always has bruises on her legs and knees from playing with her friends, and in the modelling world, this is a big no. But even though she plays rough on the playground, when it is time to be on stage, my little angel is a real diva,” Joline says.

She adds that last year, Anzé broke her nose at two places at school a day before she had to compete in a pageant.

“The accident happened on a Friday and she had a competition on Saturday, but not even a broken nose could stop her from competing. She competed and won the competition and the following week she went into theatre for surgery,” Joline says.

Anzé’s role model is Miss South Africa 2014 and Miss World 2014, Rolene Strauss.

Her ultimate goal is to one day become Miss South Africa, as well as Miss Universe.
