R200 million revamp for Limpopo college

A R200 million Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college will open its doors in Thabazimbi next year.

LIMPOPO – A R200 million Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college will open its doors in Thabazimbi next year.

According to SABC News the former FET is being revamped and extended.

“When the facility is fully operational it will cater for about 1500 students in various occupations and programmes from business studies to artisan training,” says minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande,

“We are looking at programmes that will be linked to skills required by the mine in this area, we are looking at programmes in the engineering field. We will be training the fitters and turners, the boilermakers, electrical construction and technicians, so those are some of the programs that we will be starting with,” says Waterburg TVET college principal, Seloane Lekoloane.

Young people in the area are pinning their hopes on the new college as the gateway to a secure future.
