Be a part of annual youth talent show

ALL young performing artists in Polokwane are urged to be part of the first annual Mentz youth event, which will be on June 27.

POLOKWANE – ALL young performing artists in Polokwane are urged to be part of the first annual Mentz youth event, which will be on June 27 at the Mshongoville sports grounds in Mentz just outside Mankweng.

Hosted by Rated A Supply and Entertainment, the event aims to raise awareness about social issues such as drug abuse, crime, teenage pregnancy and education. According to Rated A Supply and Entertainment co-founder, Andrew Matlebjane, the event will help to bring communities together.

“It is very disturbing to see young people drop out of school or getting involved in criminal activities.

“I want to provide a platform where they can learn through entertainment.

“This is our way of appreciating young people’s contributions in the community and to motivate them to keep going,” says Matlebjane.

He says everyone who registers to be part of the show will be given a chance to perform.

“Any act will be allowed to participate. I want to accommodate everyone so that we can reach the masses”

“These acts range from dancing, singing, poetry, acting, designers and any other form of art,” he says.

Matlebjane says prizes will be given to those with outstanding performances.

“We want to encourage them to continue with arts because it helps one stay occupied and focused.”

Although he is excited about the event, Matlebjane confesses the planning process has not been easy finding sponsors has been a challenge.

“I have managed to secure some sponsors, but still looking for more because it is going to be a big event.

“We definitely need all the support and help we can get to shape the lives of young people in the community.”

The other Rated A Supply and Entertainment co-founder, Livy Phala, says they plan to host this event annually. She says they will have guest speakers such as Miss Limpopo on the day.

“We have been reading about other communities doing good things to uplift their people, now it is our turn to give back to our people,” she said.
