POLOKWANE – Learners at Tom Naudé Technical High School took to the stage to showcase their various talents during the Tommies Got Talent that took place at the school hall recently.

Learners performed various acts such as singing, poetry, and beat boxing among others.

According to Holly van Heerden, the event organiser, the event was great and all the participants prepared themselves for it thoroughly.

“Tommies Got Talent is an annual event which the school hosts around the month of May so learners can get the chance to showcase their talent. Some of the learners find it difficult to perform exceptionally well academically, so we want to try and nurture some of their other talents so they can have more options for the future,” said Van Heerden. She added that Anne Smith of Mode Entertainment SA usually attends the concert as a talent scout, organising gigs for the students selected.

Smith said there is a lot of talent in the province and Mode Entertainment SA is doing their best to unearth these talents and nurture their careers.

“We help them polish their skills and later on organise gigs for them to get used to crowds. At the moment we are busy with Dioné Cilliers, who we found during last year’s Tommies Got Talent,” said Smith.

Mia Meyer, a Curro Heuwelkruin gr. R learner was a guest performer during the event and recited an Afrikaans poem and entirely captivated the crowd.
