Sport comes alive on this radio show

LIMPOPO – THOBELA FM comes alive every weekend between 15:00 and 18:00 with sports commentary.

Mabaleng a Dipapadi is the second home of soccer enthusiast and the show’s presenter, Hodi Tsamago (37), who joined the station’s sports team in 2010.

A father of two, Tsamago says South Africa is facing multiple societal challenges, and he believes entertainers have a role to play in helping stressed residents to cope.

His passion for addressing some of the country’s major challenges come from his other profession as a mathematics and science teacher at Mamolemane Secondary School in Moletjie.

This is where he empowers young people to stay away from substances such as drugs and alcohol to have a brighter future.

“What propels me to succeed is trying to reach out to disadvantaged people and getting inspired by seeing those who come from needy backgrounds succeed in life,” he says.

His personal motto: “if you want to go quick, go alone and if you want to go far, go together” inspires him to work in a team environment.

He encourages South Africans to work together as a collective to address some of the pivotal challenges.

For the 39th anniversary of the 1976 Soweto uprisings, he urges young people to focus on education.

“Most importantly is to go to school, learn and empower ourselves educationally.”

Tsamago says this is the message he always stresses in his classroom.

Jokingly he says raising his two children is what relaxes him the most. “Whenever my favorite soccer team is playing, we don’t fight because we all support the same team, but I literally fight for the TV remote if I want to watch the news or something,” he laughs.
