LIMPOPO – Interlinked murders – an Ethiopian national was shot and another local resident assaulted to death at Tiyani, Hlanganani last week.
On Thursday at 19:30 Bayani Tabeno (38) and Ethiopian man was shot twice in the stomach after three unknown armed men confronted him in his room, demanded money.
According to police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, the suspects then searched his room and fled the scene. Tabeno later died from his injuries in the Tiyani Health Centre.
On Friday between 16:30 and 17:00 at the Tiyani Crazy Tavern, Grate Mahlaule (30) a man the community believed to have been involved in the murder of Tabeno the night before, was assaulted by a group of Ethiopian nationals and local residents.
Stones, chairs and an iron bar in were used. Mahlaule died from his injuries.
No arrests have been made says Otto.
