Mid-year exam scripts lost in Limpopo school blaze

A fire which broke out at at a school near Malamulele earlier this morning, resulted in not only the loss of exam scripts, but extensive damage to the school.

LIMPOPO – A fire which broke out at at a school near Malamulele earlier this morning, resulted in not only the loss of exam scripts, but extensive damage to the school.

 

Mid-year examination scripts were destroyed when the fire broke out this morning at 05:00 at Humula High School, Mukhomi Village, west of Malamulele.

According to information the blaze allegedly started in the administration block which includes five offices and three storerooms. The staff room and library were also apparently affected.

Police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto says five laptops, a computer and sport kits donated by Lotto to the value of R180 000 were allegedly damaged in the blaze.

Emergency workers, the fire brigade and police investigators are still on the scene to determine the cause of the fire. No one was injured.

According to reports, damage to the school was estimated at more than a million rand.
