POLOKWANE – For most children, as well as some adults, playing video games is a favourite pastime.

Last Wednesday, Mitchell House and Pietersburg Comprehensive schools’ (PCS) debate teams competed in a debate match, where they debated whether video games were a bad influence or could be seen as educational.

The adjudicators were Mark Markgraaff and Matlou Sibaya.

PCS proposed the topic, saying it was a bad influence, while Mitchell House came up with counter arguments about the value of video games.

Phenyo Phiri from PCS stated that children who played video games showed more aggression.

Mitchell House won the debate, while Sakhiwe Shezi from PCS was named best speaker.
