POLOKWANE – The National Professional Teachers Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa) awarded 24 teachers from Limpopo for their 20-year or more contribution to teaching.
The awards ceremony was held at Pemps on Friday, where the teachers received certificates for their hard work and dedication.
Abdool Carrim Jacobs from Pemps was recognised for sharing his knowledge with children for more than 30 years, while Joey Heyns also from Pemps, was acknowledged for teaching for more than 35 years.
Ramadimetja Maputla from Mahlasedi Special School was honoured for serving as a school teacher for 40 years. She said she was delighted and honoured to receive the award and that she would continue to share her experience, knowledge and skills with the learners.
Joe Mashigo, Naptosa general secretary, said Naptosa used every opportunity to thank teachers for their hard work and dedication.
Mashudu Manyanga, Naptosa provincial chairperson said: “being a teacher is not an easy task, but teachers stand tall and firm and serve with pride and dignity.
Things have changed over the years. We are living in an era where one is forced to be politically, socially and culturally correct”.
He added that Naptosa appreciated the service rendered by teachers and encouraged them to continue serving and teaching with dignity.
