Westenburg police find dagga after tip

Teamwork between the Westenburg police and the community led to the police confiscating marijuana worth more than R80 000.

POLOKWANE – Teamwork between the Westenburg police and the community led to the police confiscating marijuana worth more than R80 000 at the Polokwane Centre Bus Rank in Fluoorspar Street on Wednesday.
The police received information from the community that marijuana was being stored in one of the compartments at the bus rank.
The police followed up on the information and found 147 arms of marijuana in a compartment at the bus rank.
According to the police, one arm of marijuana costs R600.
Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson, applauded the community for helping the police in fighting crime.
“Together we will make our communities a safer place.
“The police need the community’s help in order to get rid of the criminals in our community and this success is a good example of what positive rewards can be reaped when the police and community work together. It was Swazi dagga that we confiscated and the estimated street value is R88 200,” Mashiane said.
No arrests were made.
