Sisters show off talents on international ramp

CONGI Nkuna (13) and her 11-year-old sister, Tiyiselani made South Africa proud when they were both crowned different titles during the international competition, Festival Model and Talent World held in Turkey recently.

LIMPOPO – CONGI Nkuna (13) and her 11-year-old sister, Tiyiselani made South Africa proud when they were both crowned different titles during the international competition, Festival Model and Talent World held in Turkey recently.

The competition is an international contest for fashion, beauty and talent, where participants from different countries across the world showcase their skills and talents in different categories and age groups.

Congi was crowned Miss African Continent and voted number one in the best evening wear category, while Tiyiselani won the title of Miss Perfection and crowned second princess in the overall contest.

Both sisters are members of Amone Modelling Academy in Phalaborwa. Unlike her older sister, Tiyiselani wanted to defend her first princess title in the Miss African Continent category, which she won last year and to contest for the biggest tittle of the World Princess.

“I’m happy I didn’t go there for nothing… at least I have something to show,” said Tiyiselani.

“I have learned that bigger things come through perseverance, and I believe I will achieve even more in future.”

Meanwhile, Congi said she was happy that she won.

“That was the most exciting moment in my life and I hope to enter the competition again if it’s held somewhere other than Turkey,” she said citing distance and costs of staying there as the main reason she did not want to go back.

Their mother, Flora Mabaso, thanked the donors that made it possible for her daughters to travel to Turkey.

“I don’t have enough words to express how I appreciate everyone’s help in ensuring we travel to Turkey for the competition. Without them we couldn’t have managed it,” she said.
