POLOKWANE – Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha is expected to demote at least two MEC’s when he reshuffles his cabinet before the end of May.
Sources in the ANC was on Monday informed that Mathabatha will announce a cabinet reshuffle after the party PEC’s meeting next week.
The reshuffle was expected after the death of education MEC Thembi Nwendamutswu in January. The premier failed to deliver on his self-imposed promise to appoint an new MEC within two weeks, this promise was made in the beginning of May.
According to information the premier would make an announcement that would see some MECs demoted.
The reshuffle was delayed after consultations, Mathabatha was also pressured by the teaching union Sadtu to appoint an MEC.
It is believed that positions for sports, arts and culture, health, and transport are also likely to come in for change.
