Chabane accident: Rikhotso case postponed

The case against Amukelani Rikhotso (29), the driver of the truck against which the late minister Collins Chabane and his two bodyguards collided, was postponed in the Polokwane magistrate's court on Friday.

POLOKWANE – The case against Amukelani Rikhotso (29), the driver of the truck against which the late minister Collins Chabane and his two bodyguards collided, was postponed in the Polokwane magistrate’s court on Friday.

Rikhotso was charged with three counts of culpable homicide following the collision during which Chabane and his two protectors, sgts Lesiba Sekele and Lawrence Lentsoane died.

Chabane and his protectors were on the way to Gauteng when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck said to be doing a U-turn on the N1 South highway around 30km from Polokwane.

Rikhotso, who was released on R5 000 bail earlier, has to be in court again on August 18.
