POLOKWANE – The Mitchell House u/10A soccer team was crowned the winner of the 2015 Pemps u/10 soccer tournament that was played at the Pemps sports grounds on Saturday.

Sixteen teams participated in this prestigious tournament with their sights on the first position. The second place was claimed by Pietersburg Comprehensive School’s (PCS) u/10B team while the Pemps u/10A team claimed the third place.

Pemps walked away with bronze medals, PCS with silver medals and Mitchell House with gold medals and a trophy.

Santam sponsored the tournament with R10 000. Vuyi Titi, Santam relationship manager, said sponsoring the Pemps u/10 soccer tournament was part of the company’s corporate social involvement.

“The Pemps tournament involves many schools and we like the fact that it was for the u/10’s. We saw the need to fund this initiative so that it could be a success. Santam supports many projects out there and we will continue assisting the community where we can,” Titi said.

He further urged children to focus on their studies and take part in sports to stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle.

Mabine Mametja, tournament coordinator, said the tournament was well supported and all the teams played excellent football.
