Young performers fly Limpopo flag high at national championships

Curro Northern Academy and Stanford Lake College learners recently competed at the South African Championships for Performing Arts and were awarded medals and certificates.

POLOKWANE – Curro Northern Academy and Stanford Lake College learners recently competed at the South African Championships for Performing Arts in Cape Town under the auspices of Kgokagano Productions, and were awarded medals and certificates.

Kgokagano Productions is an arts and culture educational entity in Limpopo, with Johanna Rampedi as the managing director. The company specialises in training in arts and culture.

The championships started with provincial auditions, where the competitors were required to obtain a minimum of 85% to qualify for the national round.

Eight learners qualified for the national round.

Five of these learners, Naledi Lekgoathi, Jane Tshelane, Khanyisa Mambana, Tlhologelo Rantho and Hlologelo Letlalo, each won two silver medals for drama and comedy.

Another learner, Yazdaan Tayob, won two bronze medals in the instrumental category.

Trained by Kgokagano Productions, the learners received certificates for their performances and achievements in the provincial and national rounds.
