5 Last minute Mother’s Day gifts

Sunday is Mother’s Day and we sometimes don’t get the time (or money) to buy gifts.

Sunday is Mother’s Day and we sometimes don’t get the time (or money) to buy gifts.

As we live fast-paced lives and don’t often get a chance to do much of anything, there are faster (and cheaper) ways to make your mother a last minute Mother’s Day gift.

Go digital

Since the invention of the camera phone, we are constantly taking pictures of ourselves (selfies) and our friends and families. So how about you make mom a sentimental and heart-felt handmade gift using the photos or videos of her on your phone or laptop? You can make a collage or even a movie. Gather all these memories and create a slideshow or movie that your mom can view at any time.

Active day

This is a budget-friendly idea, perfect for active moms who love to spend time with their loved ones outdoors. Take her hiking and pack a picnic lunch and find some new trails to explore with her. Or visit the local nature reserve and have a braai. Add a pair of new sunglasses and a sun hat and you have the perfect gift.

Shopper points

Use the points you have accumulated from Dis-Chem, Clicks or even Pick n Pay and buy her scented candles or bath salts.

Vouchers

Make Mother’s Day vouchers that your mom can claim from you on the day. These can range from washing her car, cleaning the house, preparing her favourite meal and even PVRing her favourite show.

Get creative

Make your mom a “10 things I love about you jar”, which includes cards explaining the 10 things you love about your mother. Make sure to decorate the jar to make it special. Tuck at her heart strings by making her a heart string wall art using some of her left over wool and wood from your dads shed.
