Greenside prefects get the thumbs up

GREENSIDE Primary School's prefects for 2015 were honoured for their hard work by the teachers and learners during a ceremony at the school on Thursday.

LIMPOPO – GREENSIDE Primary School’s prefects for 2015 were honoured for their hard work by the teachers and learners during a ceremony at the school on Thursday.

The principal, Peter Ramaphakela, said the prefects did good work at the school and encouraged them to continue to work hard throughout their high school careers.

“We came up with a strategy to build a school team, knowing this would benefit the learners,” he said.

He said teachers and learners should work together to produce good results.

“We encourage our prefects and the learners to work hard for the rest of the year as they did in the first term. We also encourage them to stay away from criminal activities and avoid using drugs as these will prevent them from achieving their goals,” he said.

One of the teachers, Matabane Madibuke, said the ceremony was held to encourage learners to take a leading role in the future.

“Prefects play a crucial role in maintaining order and discipline in the class and on the school grounds.

“This will not only benefit them in school, but in the working environment,” said Madibuke.

One of the prefects, Dineo van Wyk, said they prided themselves on the great work they did in the previous term.

She encouraged the learners to continue showing the teachers and prefects respect, to be in their school uniform at all times and to arrive at school on time.

“Time management is very important. We urge all the learners to work together with us,” said Van Wyk.
