DA’s Desiree in Fed running

Desiree van der Walt is representing Limpopo in Cape Town where she is a candidate for the position of the DA federal deputy chairperson.

POLOKWANE – Desiree van der Walt is representing Limpopo in Cape Town where she is a candidate for the position of the DA federal deputy chairperson.

Van der Walt is one of seven candidates who applied for this position. Out of the seven only three will be appointed.

The duties of the federal deputy chairperson is to liaise and support the chairperson and the federal executive committee will also give the deputy chairperson different tasks to complete in the communities.

The candidates are currently participating in a national campaign where they are given the platform to motivate why they are the best candidates for the position, what they can bring to the table and why they should be voted for.

According to Van der Walt, the majority of representation on the committee is from bigger provinces like Gauteng and Western Cape and that is why she decided to apply.

“I want to give the smaller provinces an opportunity on the committee. I also want to bring diversity to the table with my past experiences such as DA ward councillor, DA provincial leader and DA deputy shadow minister for the department of education. Out of the seven candidates, I am one of two women who have come this far,” Van der Walt said.

The election will be this weekend and the successful candidates will be announced on Sunday.
