THE Tzaneen cluster police's family violence and child protection unit has launched a massive manhunt for a man who is believed to be able to assist them in the investigation of a gang rape.

TZANEEN – THE Tzaneen cluster police’s family violence and child protection unit has launched a massive manhunt for a man who is believed to be able to assist them in the investigation of a gang rape.

According to Tzaneen cluster police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident took place on March 26 last year at around 11:00 in some bushes near Musiphana village in the Letsitele area.

“The victim was a 25-year-old local woman. On the day the incident happened, she was with two other women who were collecting firewood when two unknown men pounced on them and threatened to attack them with pangas.

The frightened women tried to run away but the men managed to grab hold of the victim and dragged her away where they raped her repeatedly.

Ngoepe appealed to residents with information to contact the nearest police station or Const Vuyani Mohlaba at 076 403 0641.
