The only available space he could get at the business centre, he uses as a storeroom for his furniture.

Mathebula is from Mohokone village, few kilometres away from Mokwakwaila. He told CV he had started his business, Nzimeni Timbers, in 2013 so that he could fight poverty by creating jobs for local people. Today the business employs 15 people.

Mathebula said they produced wood furniture such as different doors, wardrobes and window frames. “We also make wall units and built-in wardrobes and kitchen units,” he said.

“When I started this business, it looked like I was playing, and some people discouraged me by saying the products would not sell in this area,” Mathebula said.

“Currently, my products are in demand locally, and I sell a lot of stock to various stores in Giyani, Tzaneen, Botlokwa, Thohoyandou, Phalaborwa and Mafikeng in North West,” he further said.

Mathebula said at top of the list for his company’s future plans is to get a bigger space to work in and expand his business so that he could employ many more people.
