Fake dentist granted bail

THE woman who was allegedly posing as a dentist while she was not qualified to do so was granted bail by the Polokwane magistrate’s court last Tuesday.

POLOKWANE – THE woman who was allegedly posing as a dentist while she was not qualified to do so was granted bail by the Polokwane magistrate’s court last Tuesday.

Mankoro Josephine Matlou, (32), appeared before magistrate Mohammed Sheik and was granted bail of R1 000. Her case was postponed to June 3 for further investigation.

Hawks spokesperson, Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi, said the accused was not qualified as a dentist. He said Matlou would have to answer to a charge of fraud, and investigations continued.

“If there are others doing this, people should report them to the nearest police station. more people who are doing this, public are encourage to report the matters to their nearest police station,” he said.

Well-known gospel artist, Ngola Lekgothoane, said he was a victim of Matlou. He said he had consulted her and had not known that she was not qualified.

“After cleaning my teeth they became painful and I thought that maybe she had used the wrong instrument or something. I was consulting for the first time and did not have any suspicions that the person who was treating me could be a fake. It was only when I read a story about her being fake that I realised what had happened,” Lekgothoane said.
