MOKOPANE – ‘Even if exceptional circumstances were proven, it still would not be in the interest of justice to release the three suspects in the murder case of Charles Mgidi on bail.’
Magistrate Annelies Swanepoel made it clear on Monday morning in the Mokopane magistrate court, that it is in the best interest of the community and the suspects, Partick Sekhu, Desmond Mashebane and Samuel Matjila to remain in custody until the next hearing on June 30.
Swanepoel said, “the release of the suspects will lead to public disorder as more than 2000 concerned residents were outside the court opposing bail.”
Mokopane was brought to a standstill during the hearing on Friday(17 April), it was a ghost town, with extreme security measures and the reinforcement of the police.”
