Armed robbery at Engen Mokopane

A series of armed robberies took place at filling stations in the early hours of Monday morning

MOKOPANE – A series of armed robberies took place at filling stations in the early hours of Monday morning

The Engen garage in Mokopane on the corner of Dudu Madisha and Nelson Mandela Street was targeted first.

The cashiers inside Engen Shop were held by gun point while explosives were used to blow open the safe. A reaction-officer of the security company, Suricat, rushed to the scene after a cashier activated the panic button.

On arrival, shots were fired and the vehicle of Suricat officer was hit 22 times, fortunately the officer were not shot, but only sustained minor injuries to his face when the window of the car exploded.

An investigation has been opened, no arrests has yet been made.

 

After this incident another filling station in Polokwane was targeted allegedly by the same group of suspects.
