Traditional leader praises schools

THE top performing rural schools and gr. 12 learners of 2014 in the Luvuvhu education circuit in the Vhembe district have been praised for their achievements.

LIMPOPO – THE top performing rural schools and gr. 12 learners of 2014 in the Luvuvhu education circuit in the Vhembe district have been praised for their achievements.

The praise came from a senior traditional leader in the Vhembe district, Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, during Thase Secondary School’s prize-giving ceremony last Friday.

Mphapuli is a former learner of Thase, which was awarded as the top school in the Luvuvhu education circuit.

He said he matriculated in the 1990’s and was happy that the school still produced good matric results.

“I am excited that my former school is the best in the circuit and it obtained a 95,6% matric pass rate in 2014.

“I want to motivate this year’s gr. 12 learners to obtain 100% matric pass rate. I hope my visit to the school will bring change and the school will continue to make us proud,” said Mphaphuli.

The principal, Ntakadzeni Mandiwana, said he was over the moon that the school was recognised by one of the senior traditional leaders, and hoped that learning and teaching in the school would change for the better.

“Improving from a 62,12% matric pass rate in 2012 to 95,6% in 2014 means that the school is progressing and we hope to obtain 100% this year,” said Mandiwana.
