Legendary principal retires at 60

WHEN the history of the best teachers who have helped learners to obtain good matric results is documented, the name of Madock Ravhuanzwo will appear.

LIMPOPO – WHEN the history of the best teachers who have helped learners to obtain good matric results is documented, the name of Madock Ravhuanzwo will appear.

Ravhuanzwo (60) the principal of Matavhela Secondary School in Mafukani village outside Mutale, recently retired from teaching and the school held a farewell party for him last Friday.

Teachers and learners de-scribed him as a dedicated teacher who helped learners succeed and praised him for his contribution to the upliftment of communities.

Ravhuanzwo started teaching in 1977 at Thengwe High School, and in 1978 the school achieved a 100% matric pass rate.

He moved on to Raluvhimba Secondary School four years later, and this school also achieved 100% matric pass rate.

He joined Matavhela in 1986, and the school has been rated one of the top producers of good gr. 12 results in Limpopo.

“The secret behind my success is hard work and team work. The school is situated in a rural area and the good working relationship with traditional leaders and parents took the school to new heights,” said Ravhuanzwo.

He said one was born a leader and, through hard work and dedication, he received recognition for his teams’ good work.
