Jaheim’s dream to study brains

Jaheim Davis (13), a gr. 7 learner at Mitchell House, says he is looking forward to studying neurology after completing gr. 12.

POLOKWANE – Jaheim Davis (13), a gr. 7 learner at Mitchell House, says he is looking forward to studying neurology after completing gr. 12.

Jaheim developed a love and passion for medicine as he spends most of his time around doctors because he is a diabetic.

He says while human beings suffer from a vast array of diseases, he decided to choose neurology because he would like to work specifically with the brain.

“The brain is the main engine of the body, which is why it needs to be taken very good care of,” he explained. He added that he did his research on this field and realised he could earn a lot of money.

“I have been told that I should be prepared to study for seven years. I would like to write my own book on neurology one day so that people can also follow my teachings as they did with Isaac Newton and Jacques Charles.”

He further said even when choosing a career, it was important for people to know a bit about their own brains such as which side of their brain they used the most. “The two different sides of the brain control two different types of thinking. The left brain is the logical side while the right brain is the creative side,” he explained.
