Areas in city without electricity

Seshego Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 including Luthuli Park have been without electricity since Sunday morning.

POLOKWANE – Seshego Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 including Luthuli Park have been without electricity since Sunday morning.

This after an 11Kv circuit breaker was damaged at the Sigma electricity substation.

Tidimalo Chuene, a municipal spokesperson confirmed that the circuit breaker was damaged by rats.

“The municipality is currently working on restoring power in the affected areas. Upon investigation it was found that the blown 11Kv circuit breaker at Sigma substation was caused by rats. A combination of bad weather and shortage of parts was the reason why residents were without electricity yesterday, but power to most areas were temporarily restored at 15:00 yesterday,” Chuene said.

Municipal technicians are working on the problem and electricity in all affected areas should be restored before the end of business today.

“Our technicians have been on site since 09:00 this morning to fit the correct replacement parts and this process is expected to be completed later today. The inconvenience to residents and businesses is regrettable,” Chuene said.
Any electricity and other service disruptions should be reported to the municipal control room at (015) 290 2000/1/2.
