LIMPOPO – THE Zurel Bros. SA Education and Training Academy hosted an awards ceremony last Monday to honour their best students.

Students received trophies and certificates based on their performances during last year’s third academic trimester. The top overall achievers received full bursaries for the next trimester, which starts in May.

The principal, Norman Landman, said the awards were an integral part of the college as they served as tools for motivation.

“We have a system in place to assist all our students to excel in their education and to make these awards even bigger and better”.

N3 student, Alwyn De Lange, received three awards based on his N2 performance in engineering science, mathematics and as best overall achiever.

He received a full bursary for the N4 trimester starting in May.

De Lange said his secret was studying every day.

“I love my courses. My dream is to be an instrument technician. I am not clever, I just work harder than everyone else,” he said.

Mathapelo Mphogo, an N2 student also received a full bursary for being the top N1 achiever. She said the bursary would provide relief for her family.

“I was about to drop out of school, but this bursary will ensure that I finish my studies.”

She said she would continue with her studies to realise her dreams of one day owning a construction company.

Examination manager, Louis Vermaak, said there were plans in place to expand the award ceremonies to cover more categories and offer more rewards.

“When you award the best students, you give the students something to work for.

“These dedicated, hardworking and disciplined students will set a good example to their fellow students on how to prosper.”
