Water shortage alert

Already high lying areas like Flora Park, Serala View and Ster Park in the city and a some in Seshego are without water.

A reported damaged/ burnt cable in the transformer yard at the Olifantspoort water treatment plant resulted in power failure thus putting the plant out of operation. This is resulting in some areas in the city and Seshego running out of water. According to a report received by midnight, most areas will be affected today.

Already high lying areas like Flora Park, Serala View and Ster Park in the city and a some in Seshego are without water.

 

The municipality together with Technicians at Eskom and Lepelle Northern Water are working around the clock to fix the problem.

Whilst the problem is being sorted, the municipality will provide temporary supply to affected areas through water tankers.

Tankers will supply water in affected areas from 06:00-21:00

Residents and members of the public in the lower areas who have water are urged to use water sparingly whilst repairs are continuing at the plant.

The community is urged to limit water consumption to immediate household needs and avoid irrigation of gardens, filling swimming pools and washing cars.
