Ivanplats reaffirm their commitment

THE department of education (DoE) collaborated with Ivanplats last Wednesday to support the local adult education and training (AET) centres in the surrounding communities as part of Ivanplats reaffirmed commitment to the people of Mogalakwena.

MOKOPANE – THE department of education (DoE) collaborated with Ivanplats last Wednesday to support the local adult education and training (AET) centres in the surrounding communities as part of Ivanplats reaffirmed commitment to the people of Mogalakwena.

Ivanplats and the DoE signed a memorandum of understanding, wherein the company committed to train the facilitators of four AET centres and to provide them with support.
The four AET centres are    Masodi High School in Masodi,AB Makapan High School in Sekoboko,Chumana Primary School in Tshamahansi and Matsibe High School in Malepetleke.
The memorandum was signed by Marwala Rasethaba, AET specialist in the Waterberg district, and Sipho Manyeke, human resources manager at Ivanplats Mine.
Ivanplats donated equipment and heavy duty stationery to the value of R157 000 to the different AET centres to ensure that the facilitators are able to perform their tasks to the best of their abilities.
Rasethaba made a commitment that the equipment will be monitored by die DoE and that they will ensure that it is well maintained.
He thanked the respective school principals for allowing the AET to take place within their school and urged them to give them their necessary support.
Ivanplats stated that they support and encourage programmes developed in the partnerships with local communities and government department to assist local people to share the economic benefits of the Platreef Project.
They also made a commitment to Adult Basic Education in its social and labour plan as part of community skills development programmes.
The partnership with the DoE supports this commitment and Manyeke added that Ivanplats will continue to support the AET centres.
“We are looking forward to a long and efficient partnership with the DoE,” he said.
