POLOKWANE – Three men will appear before the Polokwane magistrate’s court this week after they were arrested in connection with a robbery in Nirvana on Monday.

The men were arrested in Ben Harris Street in Westenburg after a short chase by the police.

Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson, said one of the three suspects attacked a man in Nirvana as he was walking to his workplace.

“The incident happened early Monday morning. The suspects manhandled the victim and took his bag, which had money and other valuables inside. The suspects fled in a vehicle which headed to Westenburg. The man stopped a vehicle that was passing by and explained to the driver what had happened and they called the police,” Mashiane said.

“On their arrival the man gave a clear description of the getaway vehicle to the police and the police pursued the vehicle. After a short chase we cornered the suspects and arrested them. They will soon appear in court,” Mashiane said.

In another incident the police arrested a 26-year-old man for the possession and dealing of marijuana.

The police received information from the community that the man was selling dagga to learners at a school in Greenside.

“We investigated the matter and the man was arrested on Monday near the school fence. We confiscated dagga to the value of R9 000. He will appear in court soon,” Mashiane said.
